What is the plot of The Super Mario Bros. Movie?

The Super Mario Bros. Movie promises to take fans on a thrilling adventure through the Mushroom Kingdom, with Mario and Luigi, who hail from Earth, finding themselves caught up in Bowser's evil plot to take over. In the trailer, Luigi is kidnapped, prompting Mario to team up with Princess Peach and Toad to thwart Bowser's nefarious scheme and save the world from his threat.

What is Mario’s last name?

Whilst it’s unknown if Mario has a last name in this adaptation, he has previously been known as “Mario Mario” in the 1993 film. However, in 2012, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said he had no last name, with which Shingeru Miyamoto, creator of the Super Mario games, agreed the month after.

What about other notable characters from the Mario Universe?

While it has been confirmed that neither Waluigi nor Wario will make an appearance, a number of other beloved characters associated with the Mushroom Kingdom have been spotted in the marketing materials. Yoshi, for example, was seen briefly in the movie trailer, alongside other recognizable figures from the Mario universe. As for Bowser Jr., it remains unclear whether the character will be featured in the film or not.
